Our approach
Principles that shape every website, application and automation we build
Our approach is simple to describe and takes discipline to follow: understand the problem, build the smallest thing that solves it well, and leave you with technology you can rely on.
Principles
Eight working principles
Start with the problem, not the technology
Before recommending a platform or language, we ask what is not working, for whom, and what success would look like. The answer often changes the solution.
Deliver in useful stages
We prefer a working first release that solves the most important problem over a large project delivered all at once. Each stage gives you something usable and new information for the next.
Make it easy to use
Software that confuses people does not get used. We design around real tasks, test with real users where possible, and keep interfaces consistent.
Design for everyone
Responsive layouts and accessibility basics are part of our standard work. Many people use phones, keyboards or screen readers, and good design includes them.
Treat data with care
We collect only what a system needs, restrict access by role and agree with you how data is stored and backed up. For regulated data, we work with your compliance advisers.
Automate where it is safe
We automate repetitive, rules-based steps and keep people in charge of decisions that need judgement. Every automation is logged and can be reviewed.
Be realistic about AI
AI is useful for some tasks and unreliable for others. We test it on your own examples and keep human review wherever errors would matter.
Leave you in control
Documentation, access to your accounts and code, and a clear handover mean you are never locked in to us.
What this means in practice
- Written scope and priorities before development begins
- Regular demos on a test link you can open on your own devices
- Changes to scope logged and estimated, not added silently
- Testing on phones, tablets and desktops before launch
- Documentation and a handover session at the end of each stage
